The increasing popularity of frenchies has led to a growing number of puppy mills and “backyard” breeders. This is a problem that has led to increasing veterinary costs and heartbreak for those who purchase from such breeders. In addition, the number of frenchies given to rescue organizations has risen.
The FBDCA Charitable Fund (CF) is dedicated to providing educational services and resources to the public, and rescue services for French Bulldogs. The CF is building a powerful educational program to educate all Frenchie owners – current and prospective, as well as for breeders. The CF currently has two education projects:
- A puppy evaluation and French Bulldog facts and myths video seminar by AKC Judge and Frenchie Breeder, James Dalton. This video was produced from Mr. Dalton’s presentation at the 2013 FBDCA National Specialty Show.
- A video seminar by the Veterinary School at the University of California Davis. The seminar was filmed on November 16, 2013 and hosted by a panel of experts on brachycephalic problems.
